Workshop Description

Day 1 Tuesday, 17 September 2024: Review, Refresh, Refine

Foundations and horizons in your coaching: Crafting for clarity and impact

  • On starting well: learn to frame and open coaching sessions - sharpening our noticing and our listening, starting with an open and focused mind (work on the observational skills)
  • From chaos to clarity: what the coach brings, what the client brings, what the coaching approach we were trained in brings. Explore the interplay between coach, client, and coaching approaches to create a harmonious theory of change
  • Session strategies: differentiate between first sessions, subsequent sessions, and complete coaching packages. What stays the same and what do coaches need to do differently?
  • Myth busting - we will explore a few common coaching myths and update ourselves with findings from practice-based research. For example: the impossibility of being neutral - how a listener influences a speaker; accountability for progress in coaching - client, coach, sponsor/buyer, other stakeholders.

Day 2 Wednesday, 18 September 2024 - Going Beyond: Expanding and Evolving

Evolving and Expanding your Professional Coaching Practice

  • Active learning: engage in activities, practical coaching exercises, and reflective practices to deepen understanding
  • Expanding your repertoire: develop skills in different coaching purposes: coaching the what / results focused (ICF-ACC, EMCC-Practitioner ); coaching the person/ learning and growth-focused (ICF-PCC, EMCC-Senior Practitioner), coaching for evolution transformation (ICF-MCC)
  • Ongoing coaching development: when coaching supervision? when mentor coaching? when coaching education? And what else?
  • Demo coaching: experience live demonstrations, for example on decision coaching; ethical coaching in the border territories – eg. health; financial; stress and burnout, workplace bullying / harassment
