Prof. Dr. Aurel Codoban

Profesor Codoban graduated from the Faculty of History and Philosophy at Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj in 1972 with a thesis titled “The Sociology of Artwork.” In 1984, he obtained a Ph.D. in Philosophy with a thesis on “French Structuralism and Cultural Issues.” Since 1993, he has been a professor at Babeș-Bolyai University (where he was the head of the Department of Philosophy for several years) and at Dimitrie Cantemir Christian University. He has received postgraduate research scholarships (DAAD, Soros, and the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs Scholarship), conducted research stages in Denmark and the Netherlands, and was a visiting professor at CEU, Budapest, from April to June 2006.

He was a special guest for three consecutive years (2013-2015) at the Gala of Excellence in Mediation held in Cluj-Napoca.

He has been the Academic Director of SACRI (Academic Society for Research on Religions and Ideologies) since 2002 (www.sacri.ro), and since 2006, he has held the position of Vice President of AROSS (Romanian Association for Semiotic Studies), affiliated with IASS-AIS (International Association for Semiotic Studies).
